Barred windows and glimpses of the grounds outside are reflected on mug shots taken of children upon their arrival at the Tuol Sleng prison in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. An estimated 17,000 people passed through Tuol Sleng under the Khmer Rouge from 1975 to 1979. Entire families were often arrested together, brutally interrogated and made to confess to a list of often imaginary crimes against the regime. All but a handful of the thousands who passed through Tuol Sleng were later murdered in the infamous Killing Fields. March 1, 2012.
