People jam the grounds of the Catholic church to hear Mass during the annual Taong Putik, or "mud people," festival in Bibiclat, on Luzon island, Philippines. Despite sometimes heavy monsoon rains, the festival draws hundreds of devotees every year. The event honors St. John the Baptist, and devotees cover themselves in mud, banana leaves and vines to symbolize the animal skins he wore in the Bible. June 24, 2011.
