Bones that have recently surfaced sit atop a glass case containing bones and scraps of clothing of other Khmer Rouge victims at the Choeung Ek Genocidal Center near Phnom Penh, Cambodia. As many as 17,000 people are believed to be have been killed and buried at the site under the Khmer Rouge regime of 1975 to 1979. But the remains of 8,895 people have been recovered. Skulls, bones, teeth and scraps of clothing continue to be unearthed at the site, especially after heavy rains. March 1, 2012.
