Architecture inside the Citadel in the former imperial capital of Hue, Vietnam was styled after the Forbidden City in Beijing. Built in 1804, the Citadel was home to the ruling Nguyen dynasty until 1945, when the last emperor, Bao Dai, abdicated. Heavy fighting took place around the Citadel during the Tet Offensive of 1968, and many of its buildings were destroyed. Restoration efforts are ongoing. April 21, 2013.
