Mugshots of prisoners taken upon their arrival are on display at the Tuol Sleng prison in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. An estimated 17,000 people passed through Tuol Sleng, where all but a handful were brutally interrogated, made to confess to a list of crimes against the regime and then murdered in the infamous Killing Fields. About 6,000 of these photographs survived after Vietnamese military forces ousted the Khmer Rouge in 1979. All of those images are on display today at what is now known as the Tuol Sleng Genocidal Museum. March 1, 2012.
