Mug shots of prisoners are on display at the Tuol Sleng prison in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The Khmer Rouge were as meticulous as the Nazis in documenting their crimes. Every one of the 17,000 political prisoners who passed through Tuol Sleng were photographed upon their arrival. All but a handful were brutally interrogated for months, made to confess to a list of often imaginary political crimes and later murdered in the infamous Killing Fields. From the resigned and forlorn looks on the faces of these victims, it is evident that many of them sensed what their fate would be. March 1, 2012.
