A smiling child props herself up inside a doorway of the Mieu Temple in the Citadel in Hue, Vietnam. Built in 1821, the temple honors the emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty, the last of whom abdicated in 1945, as Vietnam sought independence from the French. The temple was one of those least damaged by heavy fighting during the Tet Offensive of 1968, at the height of the Vietnam War. April 21, 2013. Photo by Le Thi Van Ha.
