A boy in the village of Pir Zadeh, in Maiwand district, Kandahar province, Afghanistan, hides his face behind a pair of gloves given to him by a U.S. soldier. Troops from Company C, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment were in the village to distribute winter clothing and food staples. They say such efforts help build rapport with villagers. Jan. 4, 2009.
