Devout Catholics in the village of Bibiclat, on Luzon island, Philippines, honor their patron saint, John the Baptist, with the annual Taong Putik, or "mud people" festival. Devotees rise before dawn, smear their bodies with mud and dress themselves in cloaks made from banana leaves and vines, which symbolize the animal skins the saint wore in the Bible. June 24, 2011.
