The image of a visitor is reflected in a display case holding iron leg shackles and torture tools used during interrogation sessions at Tuol Sleng prison in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. An estimated 17,000 people passed through Tuol Sleng from 1975 to 1979 under the Khmer Rouge regime. Nearly all of them were eventually murdered in the Killing Fields after months of brutal interrogation, during which they were forced to confess to a list of often imaginary crimes. More than 500 foreigners were among those imprisoned at Tuol Sleng, including 10 Westerners. None of the foreigners survived. March 1, 2012.
