Canadian soldiers with the Royal 22nd Regiment examine papers and other materials found on three Taliban fighters they shot dead earlier that day in the village of Zalakhan in Kandahar province, Afghanistan. Also pictured is a U.S.-made 60mm mortar tube and four rounds of ammunition that the insurgents were carrying. The fighters were likely on their way to shoot the mortar rounds at a nearby Canadian base when they were killed. Aug. 8, 2009. DREW BROWN/STARS AND STRIPES
