The ruins of the Darul Aman palace on the outskirts of Kabul, Afghanistan. Built in the early 1920s by King Amanullah Khan, the palace was left a gutted shell during the 1992-1994 civil war as rival mujahideen factions fought for control of the Afghan capital. Feb. 2, 2009.
