Members of Veterans for Peace toured Vietnam to learn about efforts to mitigate the suffering of the country's Agent Orange victims and those injured by bombs and land mines left over from the war. Dr. Thi and other medical staff say that about 500 of the 60,000 children born each year at the maternity hospital, Vietnam's largest, have deformities. some because of Agent Orange. But 90 percent of women who come to the hospital chose to abort at the earliest sign of any abnormality, they add. May 1, 2013.
