Photographs of Khmer Rouge leaders Pol Pot, Ieng Sary and Khieu Samphan have been defaced at the Tuol Sleng prison in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Pot, also known as Brother Number One, was the supreme leader of the Khmer Rouge. He died in a jungle hideout in 1998, nearly 20 years after Vietnamese troops ousted the regime. He may have been poisoned. Sary, the deputy prime minister and foreign minister, and Samphan, the former head of state, were both arrested in 2007 and now face charges of genocide and other crimes against humanity by a UN-backed tribunal created to try senior members of the former regime.
