A trio of women sing hymns during the annual Taong Putik, or "mud people," festival in Bibiclat, on Luzon island, Philippines. The festival honors St. John the Baptist, and devotees cover themselves in mud and vines to symbolize the animal skins he wore in the Bible. The festival draws old and young alike, most of whom wear the ritual dress, while others wear a modified version or none at all. June 24, 2011.
