Shoppers and workers are in a muddy alley in the central market of Kabul, Afghanistan. Despite the ever-present mud and miserable winter weather, the market bustles daily with commerce of all kinds. Taliban attacks in the Afghan capital have so far been relatively rare, and as life goes on at a normal pace, the war often seems far away. Feb. 3, 2009.
